| Description: | Viva La Variety!, a fundraiser for the Ozark Arts Council, will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010, 6-9pm at St. Johns Episcopal Church Parish Hall. Tickets are $10 for a seated dinner and the entertainment, or $6 for carryout. "Like many non-profits, the Ozark Arts Council is struggling financially," said Jamie Taylor, President of the OAC Board of Directors. "Rather than cut programs, we decided to hold this event to showcase some of Harrisons talent and give the community a chance to have a nice dinner." Dinner will include lasagna, salad, breadsticks (donated by Leonardos Pizza Villa), desserts home-made by members of the OAC, and a drink. The entertainment includes music by Rev. Chip Andrus; Michael Loggains on guitar with special guest Debbie S. George-Jones on vocals; and performances by Ann Lemley, Juliana Stefanski, Cameron Carlton, Clark & Madeleine Middleton, and others to be announced. Tickets are available by calling 870.391.3504, or at the OAC office next to the Lyric Theater on the Square. The Ozark Arts Council is a cultural treasure created with money, labor, materials, and support from the entire community and is dedicated to enriching lives by promoting the arts in Harrison and North Arkansas. Since its founding in 1996, the non-profit 501(c)(3) organization has touched the lives of many through exhibitions, performances, and education. The OAC is the proud owner and operator of the historic 1929 Lyric Theater and supports six member organizations: The Twentieth Century Club, Buffalo River Concert Association, Harrison Art League, Northark Drama, The Theatre Company, and Womans Book Club. Support for the Ozark Arts Council is provided, in part, by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and the National Endowment for the Arts; additional support is provided by foundations, local businesses, and individuals. The OAC is a member of the Arkansas Coalition for Excellence and Arkansas Museums Association; and a graduate of the 2008-2009 class of Hands-On Experiential Learning Project (HELP), a professional development program of Mid-America Arts Alliance. | |
