Now in our seventeenth year, the mission of the Sitka Jazz Festival is to bring professional jazz musicians from around the world to the island community of Sitka, Alaska to teach, inspire, and perform.

First and foremost an educational effort, the Festival strives to teach music appreciation, skills, history, artistic expression, and cross-cultural understanding through the study and performance of jazz music in a focused and safe learning environment. Clinics are provided in jazz history, jazz theory, and jazz improvisation, as well as a variety of individual instrument and section-specific workshops.
